Messages sent with the form below go to the people who write and edit Kin & Number. A question about a particular piece is passed to the contributor who wrote it.
Good reasons to write
- You found a mistake: a wrong number, a slip in a worked example, an idea credited to the wrong person, a broken link. Tell us the page and what is wrong. A source helps but is not required.
- A step in one of our explainers or models lost you, and you would like it explained another way.
- You belong to a community whose kinship system we describe, and something in our account is wrong or unwelcome. These messages go to the top of the pile.
- There is a topic you would like us to cover.
What we cannot do
- Answer homework, exam or assignment questions. We are happy to point you to the explainer that covers the idea.
- Research your family tree, find relatives or interpret DNA results for you. Our genealogy pieces explain the arithmetic, and the cousin calculator does the rest.
When to expect a reply
Every message is read. Most get an answer within a week or two, and corrections usually come first. If a reply would only repeat what an existing explainer says, we will send you the link rather than a long letter.
We use your name and email address only to reply to you. The privacy policy explains what is stored and for how long.
